Monday Makes – Moda Bake Shop

Calling all you avid quilters! For the first in our weekly Monday Makes series, we’ve decided to share one of our favourite websites with you, Moda Bake Shop. If you’re looking for a little sewing inspiration, this is the site for you!

This site is owned by the sewing bees at the well-loved Moda Fabrics company, and it aims to fulfil all your quilting needs. Keeping things bakery-themed, they provide a whole host of recipes (or patterns) for every occasion and season. There are plenty of quilt recipes tomoda bake pick from, but if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, you can also find home decor, clothing and bag recipes too!

Not only do they split their projects into different types, but they also provide projects that you can do with pre-cut fabric packs. So, let’s say you decided to buy a Jelly Roll, but you have no idea what you’d like to use it for. Just scroll down Moda Bake Shop’s site and select the Jelly Roll illustration, and you’ll find a variety of inspiring makes to try out!

Alongside all of these beautiful designs, you are given the opportunity to submit your own project and become a ‘chef’. At the top of the page, you can click the Chefs button to take a look at everyone that has submitted and their projects! To submit your own, all you have to do is click the Project Submission button on the right and fill out the form, then you could see your own design on the site.

Whilst all the patterns and gorgeous fabrics are, arguably, the most exciting thing about Moda Bake Shop, they also offer tips and information on fabric. You can find advice on organising fabrics, seam allowances and binding, among many other things. There is also a page of useful printables pre-cut fabric sizings, layer cake slicing, and ways you can get crafty with a 5″ charm square.

It’s very easy to spend a good hour or so, scrolling through the endless patterns on Moda Bake Shop, so we recommend grabbing a cuppa and getting comfy before you take a look! You can find Moda Fabrics on Twitter and Facebook for more inspiration and fabric news.
