Only four intrepid “Strolling Sisters” – Christine Porteous, Barbara Charles, Vera Wade and Pam Dowson – went on this month’s walk around the Hartburn-Preston Park loop, and a good time was had by all despite setting off in the drizzle. Not quite singing, but when you’re all talking and walking you don’t seem to feel the rain !
Setting off from the West End Bowls club, by the time our walkers had reached Preston Park the rain had stopped – just in time for them to go inside into the café for the usual scones and coffees! Walking back along the river, the ladies were greeted by the lovely graceful sight of two swans and six cygnets. More walking and talking ensued until they arrived back at the car park in Hartburn.
