At the last Annual Meeting, 83% of delegates voted in support of the NFWI 2016 resolution to ‘avoid food waste, reduce food poverty’. Since then the campaign has involved surveying members and supermarkets about retail practices and using the findings to suggest ways in which we can work together to achieve this resolution. You can read more about it on the NFWI website.
Food Waste Action Weekend is set for 19-21 May and is the next stage in the campaign, calling on individual WIS to work with their local supermarkets – and our action pack has just arrived ! We will be talking to local supermarkets about how we can work together to raise awareness and help reduce food waste and food poverty in the coming weeks – watch this space for further details and please contact us if you would like to be involved !
