The World’s Largest Waltz in Saltburn!

Next week, on Friday 19th May, Age UK Teesside will be attempting to break the world record for ‘World’s Largest Waltz’ and they need your help!

The current record is held by Bosnia, who had 1510 couples dancing in 2007, but Age UK Teesside are hoping to have 2017 couples dancing all along Saltburn pier and promenade. Whatever your age or ability, head down to the beach and dance to the original composition, ‘Teesside Waltz’. Everyone will need to dance the same steps and you can learn them by watching this video. No freestyling allowed! Entry fee (£5.90 each, with all proceeds going to the charity) includes a world record breaker medal and a world record breaker rain mac – for if the Heaven’s open and ‘we’re dancing in the rain.’

Outside of the main event, there are an abundance of activities to get involved in all around the town.  In the main event marquee in Valley Gardens, you will find taster sessions in zumba, belly dancing and jiving. You can try your hand at a range of arts and crafts, pop in to Saltburn Community Theatre for Afternoon Tea, or sample a bit of Tea Dancing . The town will be buzzing with things to see and do, and you can meet up with a host of groups and clubs that will be celebrating living life to the full. Saltburn Farmer’s Market will also be held on that day in the main square, so you’ll be able to stock up on your favourite local foods after dancing your socks off!

It’s set to be a really fab day, so we definitely recommend getting involved. Tickets are available through Eventbrite or you can call 01642 805500 to book them directly. Click here for more information!
